Rock Creek Fishing Report + Rating

3/5

March 22, 2024

Rock Creek has been rising all week, but still very fishable.  Still mainly a sub-surface game, but soon we should start seeing more BWO’s and March Browns.  Right now stick with Jig Princes, Jig PT’s, TJ Hookers, 20 Inchers, Double Bead Stones and San Juans.  Dead drifting Zonkers, JJ Specials, Sparkle Minnows and Zirdles can be a good way to get a bigger fish.  Water is still cold so fish aren’t going to move far to chase streamers.

Montana SNOTEL Current Snow Water Equivalent % of Normal

SWE is an acronym for Snow Water Equivalent, signifying the quantity of liquid water present in snow. Essentially, if you were to take a certain snow depth and melt it, the resulting water height would be representative of the SWE. This is how we can predict river flows and water levels for fishing season.
