Captain Drew Miller

Drew Miller is our head guide and Outfitter. With 20 years on the water, he has developed a reputation as one of the best fly fishing guides in Missoula and is an elite Montana outfitter. His innovative fly patterns and creative fishing techniques have proven deadly on area streams, and his enthusiasm for fishing is contagious. Drew’s guiding pursuits have taken him all over Montana. Drew is a licensed boat Captain as well. He guides during the month of May in the Florida Keys. Drew has fished in Africa, Tierra Del Fuego, Alaska, Mexico, Belize and enjoys hosting trips to these locations. Drew is a consummate professional on the water.

Dave Hufman

Dave Hufman has been one of our top guides for many years. A great sense of humor and an unbelievable work ethic have anglers returning year after year to fish with Dave. He knows Missoula area streams as well as anyone, and has the uncanny ability to find great fishing on uncrowded waters. Day in and day out Dave puts a lot of trout in his boat and anglers truly love their time on the water with him.

Kurt Long

MISSOULA FLY FISHING GUIDE

Kurt was born and raised in Missoula, Montana and has been fishing for as long as he can remember. He has worked at the shop since 1997 and is one of our best guides. Anglers love Kurt’s enthusiasm for both catching fish and teaching them all aspects of fly fishing. No one spends more time on the water each year than Kurt. If he’s not guiding you can bet he will still be out testing new waters and techniques just for fun.

Sam Amses

Sam Amses is known for his pursuit of big trout. Besides being a world class fisherman, Sam has turned into an exceptional fly fishing guide and instructor. He has guided 5 years for the Grizzly Hackle and already has many loyal clients. Sam has fished more rivers than anyone we know, not only in Montana, but all around the country, including Alaska. Sam spent 3 months wandering and fishing New Zealand. For one so young, he has ages of experience.

Andy Simon

MISSOULA FLY FISHING GUIDE

Andy has been fishing from age two, when his family moved to a house in Walla Walla with a spring fed pond in the back yard. From a young age he fished for the bass and kamloops trout that were stocked there. From his sophomore through senior year in high school he was part of the USA Youth Fly Fishing Team, traveling to the Czech Republic, Portugal, and Pennsylvania during the summer months to compete and learn fly fishing methods from the rest of the angling world. Andy got his start guiding in Alaska in 2008 and has worked in Norton Sound and Bristol Bay. He moved to Missoula for college, and has made the town his permanent home after finishing his english degree at University of Montana. Andy now guides and fishes the local Missoula rivers through the Summer and Fall, while spending the Winters chasing steelhead in Washington. He looks forward to the awesome dry fly fishing each year which defines the Missoula region as one of the best fly fishing destinations in the West.

Captain Chris Maher

MISSOULA FLY FISHING GUIDE

Chris grew up fishing at a young age, with his father being his teacher. After graduating from Chico State, he moved to Truckee, CA to guide for trout on the
Truckee River and the surrounding area. Several years later, fishing brought him to
Southeast, Alaska and Western Alaska where he obtained his Captains license and
ran remote 100 float trips on the Kanektok River chasing giant leopard rainbows
and dolly varden. Chris now pursues his passion in steelhead fishing where he
guides on the Olympic Peninsula, WA during the winter months. Springtime,
brings him North to Wrangell, AK where he also guides Steelhead and ocean charter trips. You can find Chris during the summer and fall here in Missoula searching for big trout. In the off-season, Chris likes to frequent Mexico and other varies countries exploring new species of fish and adventure.

Tom Osen

Tom was born and raised in the great state of Montana. His love and passion for fishing from an early age lead him to where he is at today, guiding on the beautiful rivers of Montana. Tom started in the fly fishing industry in 2005. After guiding on the Bighorn river he decided to pull up anchor and head west to Missoula. Tom loves taking people fishing whether they are first timers or seasoned pros. He has a great personality and an even better sense of humor. You will have an enjoyable and memorable day on the water catching fish with him.

Dylan Tucker

MISSOULA FLY FISHING GUIDE

Dylan was raised in a family of fly fishermen in the western mountains of Maine with the Carrabassett River in his backyard. On any given day, Dylan’s passion for fishing might take clients anywhere from the pocket water rapids of the Blackfoot to the glassy dry fly flats of the Clark Fork, and few guides will work harder on the water to ensure your trip is enjoyable and successful. Dylan is a patient teacher and a driven trout-hunter, and his upbeat personality keeps anglers smiling day in and day out.
