Clark Fork River Fishing Report + Rating

4/5

April 26, 2024

The Clarkfork has dropped and cleared up nicely this week.  Fishing is good and we are starting to see dry fly action come into awesome shape.  Skwala’s are out thick on some days and fish are looking for them.  Rogues Stones, Water Walkers, Dancin Ricky’s, Rolling Stones, Jakes Blackout Stone and Cadillac Skawala’s are a good bet.  Drop a Perdigon, Jig PT, Rubberlegs or San Juan off the back to double your chances.  We are starting to see Gray Drakes, March Browns and BWO’s.  Be ready with those as the hatches keep getting better every afternoon.  Streamer fishing should be good the next few days with clouds/rain.  Fishing should stay good, until we start getting really warm weather and what snow we have starts to melt.

1/2 off Friday’s are still happening, every Friday all year long. (1/2 off your first  dozen dries or nymphs)

MISSOULA Weather Forecast

Montana SNOTEL Current Snow Water Equivalent % of Normal

SWE is an acronym for Snow Water Equivalent, signifying the quantity of liquid water present in snow. Essentially, if you were to take a certain snow depth and melt it, the resulting water height would be representative of the SWE. This is how we can predict river flows and water levels for fishing season.
