CURRENT CONDITIONS
The Bitterroot is in great shape and fish are looking up! A few Skwala’s are still out, but we are seeing more mayflies with BWO’s, March Brown’s and a few Gray Drakes out there. Be ready with your mayfly box stocked with Carnage Drakes, Cripples, CDC Duns, Parachute Adams, P-Hazes and Comparaduns in the appropriate size and color for the mayfly you are imitating. If you don’t have fish rising in the afternoon a Skwala/dropper is a good way to search for fish. Droppers being Jig PT’s, Spanish Bullets, Galloup’s Jig BWO, Rubberlegs or San Juans. Streamer fishing is a good option on the low light days. Smaller streamers like Chicago Overcoats, Jig Yummy’s, Space Invaders and Lil’ Kim’s seemed to be getting more action than the big streamers.
Looking Forward
Bitterroot is in good shape and should stay that way this week. Maybe a bump in flows by the weekend if the weather gets warm on Thursday. We'll keep you posted.
FLOATERS BEWARE
Lots of trees are down again this year and a few places are dangerous. Give our Missoula fly shop a call for up-to-date information. 1/2 off Friday’s are still happening, every Friday all year long. (1/2 off your first dozen dries or nymphs)
