CURRENT REPORT
It's summertime on the Missouri! Fishing is very good "over the hill" right now. Predominantly a nymph game in the morning, using sowbugs, worms, caddis and PMD/BWO nymphs. Our favroites are the Tailwater Sow, Weight for It Sow, Spicy Squirrel, Duracel and Wire Worms. For mayfly nymphs, we like the Jig Hot Tag PTs, PLT Nymphs, Psycho Mays, Jig Napoleons and Frenchies. Start deep first thing, and play with the depth of your rig as the day goes on. Fish will start to suspend in shallower water as bug activity increases.
Plenty of options for the dry-fly enthusiasts out there right now. PMDs, Caddis and a handful of BWOs still hanging around. Keep the dry fly rig ready while you're out there. Fish looking up for all of the above. For PMDs we love the Half Duns, Flash Cripples, Film Critics and Rusty Spinners. For caddis, we like the X-Caddis, Translucent Emergers and Double Body Caddis. Lots of opportunites in the afternoon, moreso on an overcast day.
Streamer anglers having fun, too. Strip or swing something small and flashy. We like the Sparkle Minnow, Kreelex, Rusty Trombone and Goldie over there right now. Not moving a ton of fish on streamers, but tossing one of the above around is a great way to find fish between hatches. Get out there!
