CURRENT REPORT
Great fishing over the Hill right now! Spring is here on the Mighty Missouri. Anglers are finding success with all fishing tactics. The subsurface fishing game has been strong with nymphs and streamers, with BWOs, Caddis and a few March Browns hatching.
Nymphing at a variety of depths with Pheasant Tails, Jig Napoleons, Green Machines and Wonder Bugs has been productive. Sow bugs like the Yum Yum, Epoxy Back Sow and Ray Charles have also been good.
Dry fly fishing has been good in the afternoon for those looking for it. Keep your favorite BWO and Caddis dries handy. Our favorites include the Ms. Tickle Cripple, Split Flag, Thorax BWO and Flash Cripple. Caddis like the X-Caddis and Trans. Emerger have also been productive up-top. Light tippet and good drifts are necessary to fool these fish.
Swinging and stripping streamers has proved productive. Kreelex and Sparkle Minnows, Cleopatras, Peanut Enviews and other heavy, quick-sinking flashy streamers will produce fish. Focus along the banks and along structure when streamer fishing the MO, but don't neglect the deep buckets and riffles mid-river.
