CURRENT REPORT
Flows and conditions are beginning to stabilize and improve up the Blackfoot, in anticipation of the famous Blackfoot salmonfly hatch. While still big, the Blackfoot will start coming down into shape and the fish will be looking for the salmonfly nymphs.
Think big when fishing the Blackfoot this time of year. Salmonfly nymphs like #04-08 TB Pats, TJ Hookers, Sili-Leg Stones, Jigglers and Dbl Bead stones should be your main focus for the next week. Salmonfly nymphs will start making their way to the banks any day now.
We are also fishing Jig SJ Worms, Wire Worms, Chicago Overcoats, Jig Prince nymphs, Jig Buggers and Hares Ears behind the "big bug." Nymphing will be the main focus up the Blackfoot. Keep your eye out for salmonfly adults and caddis for the occasional rising fish this week.
Dead-drifting Sparkle Minnows, Kreelex Minnows, Dungeons and Woolly Buggers can also be effective. Focus on finding slow, clean water to find success. Our fish aren't tippet shy this time of year! Save your 4x and 5x for later in the year, bro!

Stock up on your salmonflies! We're almost there! Don't let the "green" water deter you on the Blackfoot. Those fish will be looking up for the dry fly sooner than later!
