CURRENT REPORT
Clark Fork is starting to come into shape in town! Far from perfect on the Clark Fork, but she's starting to show signs of good fishing. A few salmonflies here and there. Best fishing on the Clark Fork will be done nymph or dry dropper fishing. Reach for a big stonefly dry like a Chubby Chernobyl, Water Walker or Plan B. For nymphs, we are using TJ Hookers, San Juan Worms, Prince Nymphs, Jig PTs, Jig Duracells, Hot Tag PTs and Jig TNT Nymphs. Lots of caddis and PMDs in the afternoon and evening. Not many fish looking up for them, but definitely will be as the water starts to clear up.
Streamer fishing is a great option while the water is still high. Now is the time of year when you can fish the bigger streamers and get away with it. Sparkle Minnows, Dungeons, Goldies and Rusty Trombones.
Looking Forward
Historically, the Clark Fork is the last to clear up during runoff, as all of our streams eventually flow into it. That being said, amazing Golden Stone, PMD, Caddis, Yellow Sally and Green Drake fishing can be had when the conditions are right. That will be here sooner than later, stay tuned!
