CURRENT REPORT
The Clark Fork is the last river in our corner of the world to cleanup post-runoff. Fishing will be tough in Missoula and downstream, as current river conditions are high and with less-than-ideal clarity. The rain and hot weather last week bumped the CF and made the clarity poor. We are just starting to see some yellow sallies and PMDs in town. Shouldn't be too long before we are back on it!
Focus subsurface if you find yourself on the Clark Fork. Stonefly nymphs like Pat's RLs, DBL Bead Stones, Front St. Stones and Zirdles can be good this time of year. SJ Worms, Wire Worms and Squirms, too. Dead drifiting Sparkle Minnows, Kreelex Minnows and Wolly Buggers can also be effective. Find slow, clear water to give yourself a chance in the current runoff conditions.
Conditions on the upper Clark Fork are slightly more favorable. Still, fishing has been hit or miss. Caddis still around here and there. Nymphing has been the most productive with stonefly nymphs, worms, Zirdles, Blow Torches, Duracells and Prince Nymphs. Yellow, black and white streamers have also been productive. Are favorites are the Mini Dungeons, Goldies, Butchers and Foxy Cleopatras.

Great fishing on the CF is right around the corner. We are starting to see yellow sallies and PMDs at our shop downtown! Just need the river conditions to improve...
