Delta Eco lodge
The Lower Paraná Delta, designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2000, marks the final journey of South America’s second-largest river system before it spills into the Río de la Plata. This expansive 90,000-hectare labyrinth of islands, side-channels, and secret lagoons forms one of the continent's most intricate and wildlife-rich ecosystems. Delta Eco Lodge—the first and only fishing operation in the region—is strategically positioned deep within this emerald maze, offering anglers a pristine wilderness experience less than an hour from the heart of Buenos Aires. Why Choose Delta Eco Lodge
Deep within the UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve of the Lower Paraná Delta, Delta Eco Lodge offers a rare immersion into a 90,000-hectare labyrinth of emerald channels, hidden lagoons, and islands teeming with life. While it sits less than an hour from the sophisticated pulse of Buenos Aires, the lodge feels worlds away, positioned where the massive Paraná River Basin completes its journey into the Río de la Plata. This unique confluence creates a dynamic and productive fishery where the Golden Dorado reigns supreme, providing anglers with technical, rewarding opportunities for acrobatic strikes in a setting that defines "wild proximity."
The lodge itself is a masterpiece of traditional "Delta" architecture—an elegant hardwood structure elevated on stilts above the wetlands to blend seamlessly with the low canopy and reeds. As the first and only fishing lodge in the region, it provides an intimate and exclusive atmosphere for just eight guests. Under the expert stewardship of co-owner Noel Pollak, the world’s most seasoned Dorado guide, anglers receive world-class instruction and access to secret braids of the river via custom skiffs. After a day on the water, the lodge’s cozy main house, wood-burning stoves, and relaxation hot tub provide a refined sanctuary to recount the day’s adventures.
Beyond the bow of the skiff, the Delta is a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a sophisticated escape from the city. Guests can explore the quiet waterways via kayak, engage in premier birdwatching, or enjoy the unique "home pool" fishing directly from the lodge docks while sipping a Malbec under the stars. With a culinary program that pairs indigenous flavors with international flair, Delta Eco Lodge is more than a fishing destination—it is a luxurious gateway to the wild heart of Argentina, proving that world-class wilderness and cosmopolitan convenience can coexist beautifully.
Delta Eco Lodge HIGHLIGHTS
Fly Fish the Paraná Delta
Fly fishing for Golden Dorado in the Delta is a nuanced pursuit of quality and finesse, offering a rewarding challenge for both expert and entry-level anglers due to the species' complex feeding regimes and migratory nature. While Dorado here average 5 to 8 pounds—with the occasional 15-pounder testing your drag—the technical "fine" approach using floating lines and surface flies like poppers, divers, and mice imitations makes every strike a visual event. Beyond the Dorado, the Delta is arguably the most consistent destination in Argentina for trophy Tararira, including the elusive and powerful Tararira Azul, and is home to exceptionally large Chafalotes. From late November through mid-April, the waters teem with a diverse roster of native species like Pirá Pitá, Manduva, and Surubí. This immersive experience extends well past the guided day; guests can retire to the lodge’s "home pool" and docks—literally meters from the dining room—to enjoy a cigar and a drink while float fishing under the lights, a relaxed yet "cool" way to experience the sheer abundance of this unique ecosystem.
HOW TO GET THERE
Accessing the wild heart of the Paraná Delta is remarkably seamless, offering a world-class wilderness experience without the need for additional domestic flights. Located less than an hour from downtown Buenos Aires in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the lodge sits at the spectacular conclusion of the Paraná River Basin. Guests are met by a professional driver at their hotel or the airport for a quick 30-to-45-minute transit to the marina, followed by a scenic 25-minute skiff ride through a labyrinth of emerald channels and islands. This ease of travel makes the Delta an effortless addition to any Argentine itinerary, providing a "headache-free" transition from the city's cosmopolitan energy to a 90,000-hectare sanctuary of winding creeks and abundant birdlife.
