Perched on the Middle Paraná—South America’s second-longest river—this subtropical winter fishery (June through December) aligns perfectly with the peak of the legendary Dorado migration. As the Sábalo baitfish flood the system, aggressive Dorado follow in their wake, frequently reaching staggering sizes of 10 to 30+ lbs. Backed by years of intensive scouting, our team provides unparalleled access to this complex habitat, from sight-fishing monsters on sprawling sandbars to probing remote backwater creeks and deep-cut banks. Why Choose Karandá Lodge
Set in the riverside haven of Bella Vista, Karandá Lodge immerses anglers in the raw, powerful beauty of the Middle Paraná—a dynamic landscape of island deltas, remote backwater creeks, and sweeping sandbars. Strategically positioned where the brunt of the legendary Sábalo migration occurs, the lodge offers a front-row seat to South America’s most dramatic aquatic theater from June through December. This is a "land of plenty" where the primary focus is squarely on landing double-digit Golden Dorado. With a fishery defined by diverse structures—from downed logs and steep cut-banks to crystalline sandbar edges—guests have the rare opportunity to sight-fish for aggressive, predatory "monsters" that frequently reach staggering weights of 10 to 30-plus pounds.
Karandá Lodge melds this heavyweight angling with the refined luxury of a 5-star boutique hotel. Designed to prioritize comfort both on and off the water, the lodge accommodates up to ten anglers, offering a sanctuary complete with a swimming pool, a fully stocked bar, and a traditional "Asado" area. The angling experience is elevated by a fleet of custom-designed 21-foot skiffs, specifically engineered for the Paraná with dual casting decks that allow two fishers to hunt simultaneously. Guided by a team widely recognized as the best Dorado specialists in Argentina, guests move from technical wood-structure "slapping" to the thrill of stalking sandbar flats on foot. To ensure a seamless trip, the lodge provides high-quality loaner equipment, 24/7 internet access, and professional housekeeping and laundry services.
Beyond the adrenaline of the strike, Karandá offers a deep dive into the soul of the Corrientes Province. The Paraná River is globally ranked as a premier bird-watching destination, providing a vibrant backdrop to every casting session. The culinary program is equally world-class, featuring savory main courses and traditional Argentine dishes paired with top-shelf wines from the renowned Catena Zapata collection. Whether you are winding down with a glass of Malbec by the pool or enjoying a fresh shore lunch prepared by your guides, Karandá Lodge provides a sophisticated and highly productive gateway to the "tiger of the river."
Karandá Lodge HIGHLIGHTS
FLY FISHING FOR GOLDEN DORADO
The fishing at Karandá Lodge is defined by raw power and technical diversity, positioning it as the premier "big game" destination of the Middle Paraná. This is a fishery of extremes where the massive annual Sábalo migration transforms the river into a heavyweight arena, drawing in aggressive Golden Dorado that frequently reach staggering weights of 10 to 30-plus pounds. It is a "land of plenty" that demands total versatility; one moment you are "slapping" large streamers against deep woody structure to provoke a dormant giant, and the next you are stalking crystalline sandbar flats on foot for a heart-stopping sight-fishing opportunity in the shallows. Under the expert eye of Argentina’s most seasoned guide team, the focus shifts from a mere numbers game to a high-stakes pursuit of the "Dorado of a lifetime," making every drift through the river’s complex maze of channels and cut-banks a potential encounter with a true apex predator.
