DESCRIPTION

Nautilus X Series XLM Fly Reel

The XL MAX is the most capable reel in the X Series. Matched to an 8- or 9-weight rod, it covers the largest freshwater species and extends into light saltwater fishing—redfish, bonefish, and smaller tarpon—without requiring a step up in reel family. If you fish big water, heavy lines, or want one reel that handles both environments, this is where the X Series finishes. Machined in Miami. Built to last.

FEATURES
  • SCF-X Sealed Drag System. Carbon fiber and Teflon disc drag, fully sealed against water, sand, and grit. Smooth startup, reliable stopping power in a lightweight package.
  • Lightweight Open-Frame Build. Precision-machined aircraft-grade aluminum. Ventilated arch design increases spool strength by 35 percent without adding weight.
  • Dual Palming Rim. Primary and secondary palming rims give you more control during the fight and protect the rear spool rim from everyday wear.
  • Giga Arbor Spool. Over a foot of line pickup per handle turn. Grooved design lets backing breathe and dry faster to prevent rot and corrosion.
  • Oversized Textured Drag Knob. Easy to grip and adjust with wet or cold hands.
  • Easy RH to LH Conversion. Switch retrieve direction in seconds without tools.
  • Machined in Miami. Built to last.

SPECS

The XCT Drag System

The XCT drag combines carbon fiber and Teflon discs to deliver consistent, friction-free resistance at light drag settings where it matters most. At 3 and 4 weight line classes, startup inertia -- the sudden jerk when a fish first runs -- is the most common cause of broken tippets. The XCT eliminates that. Drag engages instantly and releases line without hesitation, giving you smooth, predictable control from the first run to the last.

WHAT IT IS

Carbon fiber and Teflon disc drag system, sealed against water and debris. Tuned for light to medium drag settings with consistent performance across the full adjustment range.

WHAT IT MEANS ON THE WATER

Set your drag before you fish and trust it. No startup jerk, no tippet-popping surprises. Smooth engagement from the moment a fish takes line, whether that's a 10-inch brookie or your first fish ever.
